Men and Wedding Rings

WOW! I'm surprised I haven't blogged about this before. It's totally one topic I'm pretty passionate about.

Married men who DON'T wear a wedding ring.

WTF!?

It's a pet peeve of mine peeps. Totally. One word -- WHY??

I know that my single chicas will totally agree. This came to me last night when Brad and I went out and were talking with a guy who didn't have a ring on. First thing that came to my mind -- was he's cute and has his shit together -- maybe someone for one of my single friends here in town?
Uh.. that was until I found out he was MARRIED! Hello??

I have heard many men's theories on why they don't wear one:

* I'm allergic to gold. (Well, get a different metal!)
* It gets in the way of my work. It might get caught on something.
* It bothers me. Doesn't feel natural to have a ring on.

All I can say to the last two -- is get the f-- over it.

I know that before I met Brad that when out and about it's one of the first things I would look for. Hey -- you can't blame a girl can you?

BTW -- Brad totally wears his ring. Always will. The only place where we DON'T wear our rings? When working in the yard, at the ocean, lake and pool.

What are your feelings on this topic? Can't wait to hear what MCW has to say..

I couldn't agree with you more. Those excuses - lame! Mr. ESPN wears his ring all the time - more than me in fact. I usually take mine off when I get home from work/gym and change clothes.

AGREED! Ryan doesn't wear it if he is working outside (very dangerous) or playing softball, but other than that he is tagged!

It's funny that picture of the mans ring...Ryan's is Titanium...I ordered it online for $350...it is light weight and takes a beating!

I agree totally!!!!!!!!

Totally agree! I'm with BrownEyedGirls, I take mine off more than the hubby.

I am completely in agreement with you. My ex NEVER wore his. Nice. Ryan only takes his off before getting in bed and working out. That's it. Same for me.

I don't wear my ring when I'm at home. Bobby wears his ring at all times unless he is in the shower.

My dad, however, has never worn his ring. He doesn't wear any jewelery, not even a watch. My parents have been happily married for nearly 37 years, so to each his own. It's never bothered me that he doesn't wear it.

I guess I can see both sides.

Blake never takes his off. It doesn't bother me when men don't wear them.....I almost never wear my engagement ring.....just a simple platinum band instead.

I think any excuse is just that...and excuse!

I know a girl who is married to someone who works on machines and such. He wears his ring on a chain while at work. As soon as he's done he washes his hands and puts it right back on. She told me that she never wanted thim to lose his finger because of the ring, but that if he didn't have his hand up in some machine that ring had better be on it :)

You're so funny, Dee. Your honesty cracks me up!
Tony always wears his, but takes it off as soon as he's home. I wear mine (or at least my band) all the time unless I'm cooking something messy and don't want food all up in my diamonds.

You can always send them up my way (well the ones that are NOT married!)

I worked with a guy who wore a ring and when he would come to talk to me he would slip it off in to his pocket!

Totally agree. I think it does take some getting used to for men, but after a week or so....no biggie. Mark takes his off for the gym. And he has completely lost one, and has misplaced the replacement a few times. I don't like it when I see him without.

I agree with you 100%! Hubby and I wear our rings all the time.

Dave and I never leave the house without our rings. However...we never wear them at home. Mine is too big to wear when cooking, cleaning or doing other things around the house. It gets caught on things to easy. But seriously...I am not complaining about a big diamond. I wouldn't give it up for anything!!! For Dave it is just annoying but he would never leave the house without it on. He knows better.

Fun topic!! I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! No excuses like you said. I can see how some people aren't so attached, but I feel super nakey now without my rings on! :) xoxo

I'm proud to wear my wedding ring. I used to take it off for swimming (My dad lost his wedding ring in the sea) but I don't even do that now. Mrs B has never taken her ring off in the 16 years we have been married.

This is an interesting subject. My dad has never worn his wedding ring b/c he's always been in the heavy equipment industry and working around large machines. My mom finally made his ring into another band for herself. I don't think it's ever really bothered her.

Trey doesn't wear his 100% of the time either, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. If he's gonna go hit on a girl, I think we have much bigger problems than whether or not he's wearing his wedding ring!

Ring on.

Definitely!! The only time I don't wear mine is cooking (eww - goo!) or doing anything with soap/water - goops it up.

Mr. Potts is the same way. Except he doesn't cook, so....

Before I got married, I really thought it was important...now I kind of don't care. Brian only takes his off for work and when he goes to bars.

My pappa din't wear his on his hand at work (could have gotten caught in a gear and ripped off a finger), but he wore it on a chain when it wasn't on his finger. . As a single lady I totally hate when men don't wear their ring.
