Friday Five

It's Friday and it has literally been the busiest, craziest week at work.
Whew!
I'll be glad to kick back a little this weekend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm following the trend today and doing a Friday Five.
#1. Love getting dressed up
Sadly, Brad and I don't get out much for adult only nights.
A lot of it has to do with the lack of a reliable sitter when we do want to go out.
I'm working on that.
Last weekend though, my parents were in town to help us out with Shelby and we were able to attend Brad's cousins engagement party.
It was at a super swanky condo in the Myers Park area of town and it gave us an excuse to put on fancy clothes and hit the town!
 I should have taken more pictures at the party of the food and setup.
It was catered by Reid's Fine Foods and was delicious!
The party gave us a chance to hang out with family members of Brad's that we rarely see who were in town.
And, we even got a family photo with Brad's parents and BIL and SIL.
 #2. My parents
We're so lucky that they live fairly close and are always willing and ready to keep her overnight for us when we want to get out of town.
They've been doing this for us since she was a mere 3-months old so Shelby is VERY use to them.
They make an effort to see her once a month.
#3. As I mentioned in a previous post, my Dad has been staying with us all week.
Shelby loves it and can't wait to see him every morning.
He can't drive for a few more weeks, but I'm taking him home this weekend and he'll rough it on his own for a week until my Mom gets back from Louisiana from helping my brother who had surgery.
 #4. Dinner with a close friend
I had dinner with my friend Katie last night.
Always good to see her and as I mentioned above, it's always fun to get out for some adult time.
 #5. Minnie Mouse Birthday Party
Our friends in San Francisco had a Minnie Mouse 3rd birthday party for their daughter at their yacht club.
I can't help but share a few pictures because it was beyond adorable.
 They had a balloon guy and face painters on hand.
 Cookie decorating...
 And, Minnie Mouse bounce house.
 So cute.
Bummer we don't live closer and could have helped Dylan celebrate turning 3!
That's all I have for today.
I can't believe tomorrow we're in the month of March.
I'm ready for Daylights Savings Time like you would not believe!
CHEERS to Friday!!!
April's Girly Baby Shower
I was so honored to be part of April, from A Liz Adventures, baby shower this past Sunday.
Her friends did an amazing job and I even snagged a few ideas for when I host a baby shower in the future.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pink and green!
My 2 favorites!!!
 A booze free punch, then a rose' and mimosas for those of us who like our cocktails!
I'm a big believer in booze at baby showers.
Sound like a lush?
Maybe so, but for those who aren't expecting, it makes it more fun.
HA!
Adorable, festive cupcakes.
I'm starting to believe that cupcakes are a lot easier at most parties, vs. having to cut a cake and have someone spend time serving.
 Love.Love the cookies!!
 Calendar for everyone to guess when Baby Robson will be born.
 And, my favorite of the shower.
Late night diapers.
I have never seen this before but think it's a GREAT idea.
All the shower guests write a message on a diaper to the mom and dad.
Then, when changing a diaper, in the middle of the night, or otherwise, they can read them and it's a reminder of how much their friends and family love them and their new bundle of joy.
Plus, what new parent doesn't need diapers????
Totally stealing this idea.
 After reading April's blog for so many years, it was fun to finally get to meet her Mom and one of her sisters.
Just as you would think.
Fun.Fun.Fun
And, sweet as pie!
 April had so many friends there.
It was awesome to get to meet so many of them as well.
 A handful of bloggers were in attendance, including Classic Annie, Carolina Charm and Our Life in the Queen City.
 Me and Christina from Carolina Charm.
She happens to work in my same building, so I see her quite often.
Her and April are due within days of each other, both having girls.
 April received so many beautiful gifts.
I loved how her shower hostesses put this together.
Adorable!
 I gave her a few necessities including a HALO sleep sack swaddle and some hard/soft bibs, then a fun gift.
I happened onto this tartan kilt while in the mountains skiing and couldn't resist.
Giving her husband, Ian's Scottish heritage, I had too!
I mean, he even wore a kilt when they got married!
It's an Irish pattern, and not the print of Ian's clan, but cute, nonetheless!
 The real hit of the party was this gorgeous, handmade gown.
April's Mom is super talented and hand smocks.
She made this frock for Baby R to come home from the hospital in.
 She hand stitched an R on it!
I seriously, thought it was a Feltman dress when it was pulled out of the box!
Everyone was totally blown away including the Mom to be.
 The shower was so beautiful and filled with love.
I'm just so happy to have been included.
Can't wait to meet that sweet baby girl come May!!!

It Was A Beautiful Day

We got back from the mountains mid-day Saturday and were welcomed home with the most AMAZING weather!
70-degrees and sunny!!!

Giving it was such a beautiful day we headed to the park.
My Mom joined us and of course we took the opportunity to get some pictures of Miss Priss.

 She loves the swings!!!
Then we decided to try out the slides.
She had really only experienced the slide one other time and didn't really get it.
This time was different.
She loved it and so did Mommy, Daddy and GiGi!

A family event!
This has to be my favorite photo from the day.
I need to get this blown up for the gallery wall.
My Mom snapped this one.
Sorry for the picture overload, but look at that joy!!
Such a great day.
Witness it for yourself with this sweet video of Shelby laughing!

The weather has continued to be nice and we're lucky to have my Dad staying with us for the week.
My Mom had to travel down to Louisiana for a couple of weeks because my brother is having a major surgery tomorrow and my Dad just had surgery a couple of weeks ago and can't drive.
So, Poppi is our house guest and Shelby is loving it!
More posts to come this week!!
Oh, and tomorrow Dee's Adventures turns 5-years old!!!!!!!!!
I can't even believe it!! Love that I have our life documented!

4th Anniversary Skiing

We had a whirlwind of a weekend with our trip to the mountains, engagement party, baby shower and family in town.
Today, I'm going to highlight our quick jaunt up to the NC mountains to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary.

As I've mentioned before, we try and get away or do something each year to celebrate our anniversary.
It's truly one of the only times we get away by ourselves to do something.
That means, no friends, just the two of us.

We didn't want to spend a ton of money this year so we decided to do a quick trip to Beech Mountain in Banner Elk.
We originally were going to stay Thursday, Friday and Saturday but we came back a day early because of a family party.

Thursday was our actual anniversary, so after work we headed straight up there.
Thanks to my awesome parents who are always willing to watch Shelby for us when we want to get away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After arriving on Beech Mountain we enjoyed a casual dinner of wine and pizza.
It happens to be my favorite!
LOL!
 Gosh, we look tired.
Probably because we were after a full day of work then driving up.
 Afterwards we went back to our lodge and enjoyed a nice fire, some wine and chilled out.
Great start to a fun couple of days.
 Friday morning proved to be VERY nasty outside.
HUGE storms rolling through the area.
The forecast showed it was going to clear out around lunchtime, so we spent the morning browsing around town and skied in the afternoon.
The Mast General Store is always a must.
 Love the old fashioned candy store.
 Of course, there was a Boo for sale.
Not sure the obsession with this stuffed toy?
Cute, but $25?
No thanks.
 Then, the sun came out and we hit the slopes!
Brad forgot a hat so wore a turtle on his head.
Ridiculous for sure.
 The conditions??
Sucky.
 We did about 5 runs then hit up the mountain top bar for a few beers.
 Not a shabby view.
Beech Mountain Resort has really stepped up their game in the last few years.
This new bar and deck, a village and even a brewery!
 It happened to be 80's weekend and it was so fun!
We aren't 'dress up' people but it was amusing to see everyone else's costumes.
 After a few beers on the mountain top we headed down to check out the brewery.
 I was pretty impressed.
 All of them were delicious.
 And, this guy treated everyone to a round.
 And, we got to meet the brew master himself.
Crazy part, he's from Charlotte originally and we know a lot of mutual people.
 After getting cleaned up, enjoying a nice dinner, we headed back to the resort for the big 80's party.
It was truly a blast!
Brad needed a hat so wore my pink one!
We look redic, but, as Brad said...
Everyone did giving it was an 80's party.
 A blast of a quick few day away!!!
We just wish the ski conditions had been better!
Happy Anniversary to us!
