Really Rielle?

Who else wasted their time watching Oprah interview John Edwards mistress Rielle Hunter yesterday?? I was curious since the broad lives here in Charlotte but I think I should have went downstairs and played PLAYSTATION with Brad instead.

The interview sucked in general and I don't think it was Oprah's fault. Rielle didn't say anything....

AND...Seriously, could she be more delusional??? She knew what she was doing and she IS A HOMEWRECKER. Granted.. I'm not a fan of Elizabeth Edwards either but no one deserves that. I think she's a LOONEY TOON too!

The other question I have to ask would be to John Edwards.... WTF were you thinking when you hooked up with this crazy lady?

Thoughts? Did anyone else watch?

Wanna Go For A Ride? And a GREAT Recipe!

We spent last Friday night in Richmond, VA before heading east to the wedding on Saturday. We stayed with Brad's cousin Wade and his girlfriend Sara and their cute dogs! When we got there they had dinner made for us and made us feel right at home.

They're the best and the cutest couple!

Before dinner we sat outside and enjoyed cocktails and food when all of a sudden I looked up and Wade had put the poochies in his truck!

He said they love hanging out in there. Check it out! How funny is this?? Looks like they're ready to roll! LOL!

Schotzy and Jimmy. They were happy sitting in there for about 30 minutes while we hung out in the yard.

Anytime I go to Virginia I pick up a bottle of Williamsburg Winery's Governors White. Good stuff - so I brought a bottle for us to enjoy with dinner. If you ever get a chance try a bottle of any wine from The Williamsburg Winery. You won't be disappointed.

And.. the best part of the night?? This F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S dip that Sara made! Serve with Frito Scoops! She found it in a church cookbook. We both agree that some of the best recipes are found in those old church cookbooks.

Here's the recipe. Compliments of Sara! Perfect for a party!
2 cans black-eyed peas (wash and drain)
2 can shoe-peg corn (drain)
1 green pepper chopped
1 or 2 cans Ro-tel Lime and Cilantro mexican fiesta (Sara uses 1 if she have fresh tomatoes to add, 2 if she doesn't)
1 bottle Kraft Greek Vinaigrette
3 small tomatoes (Sara adds these in the summer and then just 1 can of rotel)chopped green onions. Combine and serve with fritos. Its even better the next day!

That's it for today kids!! CIAO!!

Oh.. SNAP!

The title of my post is compliments of Brad! In reference to us now being Charlotte 'society'..LOL!

Why you ask??? Because this picture below.. made the society part of the paper.
Check it out here..

Again, the society part is a joke kids. I only WISH we were rich!! It's great that we know people who take pictures for the newspaper!

A Virginia Wedding

Congrats to Mandy and Matt who got married this past weekend in the charming Williamsburg area!!
We had a blast and even though I had never even met Mandy and Matt before(they are friends of Brad's from his Northern VA days), I felt like we were long lost friends!

As I mentioned this past week they got married in the countryside of the Cheasapeake Bay area at the Inn at Warner Hall.

Actually, they got married in a little water front/hill top church in Yorktown but the reception was here at this lovely house.

Here's our gang. Chip, Olivia me and the Bradster.

Lovely jazz musicians when we walked into this old, charming house.

Reminded me of plantation homes in Louisiana..Old pictures, lots of Civil War memorabilia.

Everything was perfect. I'm big on keeping wedding style in sync with where it's held and the time of year it's scheduled.

Her flowers were lovely and she had them in Mason Jars. Perfect for the setting.
And..her favors? Jars with lavendar M&M's.

Koozies. We didn't do this but love it for spring and summer weddings!

Ahh.. I was in heaven with this baked brie!

What would a countryside wedding in the South be without ham biscuits??!

Love the cake as well! Her colors were perfect for this time of year. Lavendar and green.

Me and Olivia. Love hanging out with them! We get along so VERY well!

The view from the back porch. That's the York River in the distance.

View of the back of the house from the river.

Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong!

They are such a great couple and I am so happy to FINALLY meet them! They're moving to Bulgaria in late summer though! Exciting but boohoo!!

Brad after a few drinks being funny!! lol

Me and Liv again...

And.. I just loved this guy in the background. Not sure who he was but he sure got his 'groove' on!

We spent the night before in Richmond and I'll post on that tomorrow. I'm happy to say Buddy is back home and I couldn't be more thrilled.
Ciao!

This is bid-day my freshmen year at LSU. Rebekah(who was my MOHonor), me and Gina. HAHA!
Gina actually had her second child earlier this week. CONGRATS!! A little boy named Riley Alexander.

We were in the elevator at our dorm - good ole' Miller Hall. The best part about this picture? Our 'Mom' shorts and those leather belts. Remember this was 1993!

Recipe, Weekend and Random Crap..

So..I got made fun of for my post yesterday but at least a couple of other Carolina peeps got what I was talking about! HAHA!

Now onto the good stuff.

First off -- I miss The Buddy terribly!! Brad's parents mentioned wanting to keep him for the week and we thought it was a good idea since he's stuck in the house all day. At the lake he gets to roam free and chase squirrels.

BUT...we miss the pooch!! Kind of lonely around here. BOOHOO!! We won't see him until Sunday!

Moving on to tonight's dinner. Fabulous recipe from that blog I told Sass about. I've never even done WW but love this site.
This was a chicken francese with a roasted green bean recipe that my blogging buddy Sara gave me today. So love Sara's blog and her. I think if we lived in the same city we would be fast friends.

Brad and I drank this bottle of German wine the other night. I bought it on my trip to Germany three years ago last month!

I like collecting wine but I like drinking it even more. I saved this one because we met the 3-generation of winemakers who made it.

We even got them to sign the bottle for us!! My Mom bought one too and auctioned it off at a silent auction for $100.
It's a good thing we drank it now because it was on the verge of going bad. I could tell by the cork. It was fab! Not too sweet!

I'm in countdown to weekend mode. We are going to a friend's wedding near Williamsburg in a town called Gloucester, VA on the Chesapeake Bay.

Can't wait! We'll see our friends Chip and Olivia and the wedding is at this charming place on the Bay!

Brad and I both agree that it will be fun to be at a wedding and not in it!! LOL!! We're driving to Richmond to hang with 'our' cousin on Friday night.

Speaking of the wedding...this is what I plan to wear!

Likey? This is the dress my Mom bought me to go out in AFTER the wedding. As many of you know we DID NOT make it out. Go here for a refresher..
So, this will be the first time to wear this little dress! Question is...black heels and jewels or silver/rhinestones or gold??
Opinions?? That's it for tonight!!

Men and How They Wear Their Sunglasses

This is such a random post but one I have thought about doing for quite a while. Now that it's the season of sunglasses I thought it was time.

Sunglasses -- have you ever noticed the different ways men wear them when they are not on their face?

I never noticed it until I moved to the Carolinas but it's pretty interesting if you look for it.

Here's what I have come up with.

Here's the "preppy way" and I would say most men who live in South Carolina(especially Charleston) wear this way --with straps.

These are random pictures but all I could find.

Anyhoo -- they don't generally have plain straps yet ones with a palmetto tree and crescent(SC).
I like the look but have never dated a guy who wore these.

Second way men around these neck of the woods wear their sunglasses? On the back of their neck.

Here's a random picture of the Food Network's Guy wearing his this way.

I've always thought this way was a little strange even though I have dated guys who have done this. My question is......WHY??
Okay -- here's the way Brad wears his sunglasses -- and probably the most logical way to wear them.
On the head.

What do you prefer?? Have you ever noticed this before? I'm so gay.. I know.. sorry... LOL!

The Silent Auction

One picture of the item I bought!
The top goes on and it's a chaffing dish(kinda).

One thing I will tell brides to register for(that I learned from blogs), register for an oven to table dishes.

This is a pyrex dish that has a platter, with a top, and looks fab!
I wish I had seen these online to register for before the wedding.
I didn't though..and still don't see these type of serving pieces at the big stores.

LOVE IT!! And............. I got it for only $40!(love silent auctions ---only wait for my post on things in my house I got at auction.you'll die fo sho!!)

What a Weekend.. Whew...!

Let me start today’s post honoring the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing. So many people lost their lives that day and I know their families are still reeling. I was a sophomore in college and it was the biggest thing to happen in our country in some time. I can still remember where I was that day and how I found out. Please continue to pray for all those involved.

Moving on to the weekend. It was a whirlwind for sure and we didn’t even plan it that way intentionally.

It started out on Friday night where we went to the Charlotte Symphony Guild Designer House Showcase kickoff party at the Metropolitan. Festive event where we toured through 3-killer(million dollar) condos, munched on gourmet food, drank fine wine and I even walked away with a silent auction item(I’m secretly obsessed with silent auctions).

Here we are on the patio of the event. I wish I had a better shot of my dress. I got TONS of compliments(even though my face is a bit bloated here).

We saw our friend Mark at the event. Miss him - we plan to start hanging with him more.

It was Mark, himself, that told us that night he had two tickets to the Saturday matinee of Jersey Boys he couldn't use and gave them to us.

So we went!!

Neither of us had seen this show before and it was FABULOUS!! It tells the story of Frank Valli and the Four Seasons. It has been in Charlotte for weeks and every single show has been a sell-out. I understand why now. If you get a chance to see it -- do it!

Then we rushed home, changed and headed out to SIL and BIL's house.

We had friends in from DC. Here Rebecca is with Robyn(SIL). They made dinner and we all hung out!

Here's baby Ava. She's the daughter of a couple we are good friends with.

And.. Our nephew Reed. He recently got a haircut and kept telling us how much fun it was!! Too cute!

Sunday we went to the lake where Brad got our jet ski up and running. Then we rushed home and I headed out to the airport to volunteer at the USO. WHEW! When I got home? I went to bed.
Now for a busy week and then we head to N. Virginia this weekend! How was your weekend?

Shows To Look Forward To

The summer concert/show season is about to get ramped up and it's always fun to see a few shows at our outdoor venues here in Charlotte.

One show Brad and I have decided to see is this guy -- John Mayer who will open his tour here in the Queen City on July 16th. Even better? Opening act is Train. I really like John's music even though I'm not a big fan of him in general.

I told Brad that and he said:

Brad: "Why, because he's banged a lot of hot chicks?!!"
Dee: "Uh, no....."

Even though I've never met Mr. Mayer personally I had a video crew/reporter who did back in my Fox Charlotte days.

The story goes like this:
Video crew/reporter were invited to interview John while he was in town for a show. (The TV show I used to produce was fun and entertainment driven no news.)

The reporter jokingly asked John on camera if it was true that he was dating Jennifer Love Hewitt.
What did John do??

Went crazy!!! He grabbed the microphone from the reporter and proceeded to look for Jennifer Love under the craft table, all around the room(while yelling at the same time), then looked straight into the camera and screamed the C-WORD!(Yes, that disgusting word).

Then he threw the microphone down and stormed out of the room. His people were so freaked out that they threaten to sue us for the footage because they were afraid we would sell it to Access Hollywood and other shows. My boss made us hand it over.

So, that's why I feel the way I do about John. Why be such a jerk??

Moving On to the next show we are looking forward to. We have tickets to see WICKED the Musical at the end of May!!!!

I have never seen it but hear it is fabulous!!! Brad was a little leery of me spending the $$ I did on tickets but my theory is - why buy tickets if you have to use binoculars to see the stage??!!

I'm sure he will think it is well worth it.
What shows or events are you looking forward to this spring/summer??
Well, that's it for today!! TGIF!!

One Furry Doggy and a new Blogger!

I just love this picture of Buddy. Yes, it was taken a few years ago in the fall on an LSU game day (hence why he is decked out in purple and gold).

I love the Budster but GEEZ LOUISE he sheds SOOOOO much!!

It's really bad right now. I am trying to discipline myself to brush him with his blade/comb once a day but it is really hard!

There are fur bunnies in corners, there is dog hair on the floors, carpet, furniture, EVERYWHERE!! It is time for a major cleaning this weekend.

I have thought about shaving him but my groomer says that it will only make things worse as it will grow back even faster!
I have heard that the Furminator is supposed to be the bomb but have yet to break down and buy one(laziness). Any advice? I think my next dog will be one that doesn't shed.

On another note...you have to check out my friend Carol's blog!! She is a friend and sorority sister from LSU. Yes, she was a Dee Gee with Casey and I. She, her hubs and pooch live the life down on the bayou in Baton Rouge. Right now they've been renovating their house! Check her out!
Happy Tax Day!!

I'm Officially One of "THOSE" People

I have went to a place I said I would never go. Yes.. yes..yes..

I am now officially one of THOSE people who have wedding pictures plastered all over their home. I’ve always thought it was too much when seeing my friends do it but I can say that it’s way too tempting NOT TOO!

It won’t last forever though. I’m sure in a year or so that these pictures will be replaced with pictures of a baby? Hopefully. Then we’ll be the obnoxious parents who have pictures of their kid/kids plastered all over the house.

Oh well, I’m assuming it’s part of growing up and part of ‘coming of age’. LOL!

Sorry for the blurry and sideways picture. Anyone know how to fix that? It's turned the right way when I upload but puts in on the blog like this. You can see we added a couple of frames.

On the bedroom dresser

Office - shrine to Dee!

Happy Tuesday!

Forty and Fabulous!

We had a FUN weekend despite suffering from allergies. The pollen here in the SE is OFF the charts right now. I have an appointment tomorrow to visit with a Ear, Nose & Throat doctor to find out a solution to help me cope.

This weekend we had 2 nights out in the Uptown area in a row!! Yeppers.. we hit my old hood Friday night then celebrated my friend Kelli's 40th birthday on Saturday night!

Here is Kelli. Her actual 40th was on Wednesday(where she was travelin on biz...ugh)..
I met her through a hiking group here in town about 2 years ago.

We hung out at her very Uptown condo at this historic building before heading out for dinner. I brought bubbles and cupcakes to celebrate the occasion!

A bottle of her favorite wine. Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay.

So fun!

Then we headed out for dinner at this place I've never before. I'm thinking Mrs. Potts has been here because I think she's a big sushi fan??
Here is Kelli and her boyfriend Blake that lives up in Asheville. Believe it or not we met him up there on a hiking weekend back in the fall. crazy..

Even though I LOVE wine I opted to drink liquor instead. One of my martinis.
I totally feel better the next day when I drink wine instead.

Then it was time for sushi! I'm not a big sushi person but Kelli LOVES it! and it was her birthday!

Even thought it's not my favorite I have to admit it that it was EXCELLENT!

Brad and I shared. These spicy tuna rolls rocked the casbah!

The whole crew.

I might poke your eye out! LOL! (after a few martinis)

Me and the birthday girl!! Happy 40th Kelli!!
