Another Mardi Gras Come and Gone

Happy Ash Wednesday.
Another Mardi Gras season has come and gone and it's time for the lenten season to begin.

Having grown up and spent a majority of my life in Louisiana, it makes sense that we celebrate Mardi Gras in our house.
When I first left South Louisiana and moved to Reno, I would go all out.
I would invite friends over, cook jambalaya, order a king cake, decorate and so forth.

Now, I still do a lot of that, but not going as overboard.
Remember, the Mardi Gras Superbowl Party I did a few years ago?
That was probably the most overboard I went in recent years.

I still do a wreath, my MIL gave me a flag and Shelby looked festive this year along with king cake and more.
But next year, I'm thinking of adding something new to our house in celebration of Carnival season!
I want to turn Shelby's little Christmas tree into a Mardi Gras tree right after the holidays!!

My Mom is still in Louisiana with my brother and his family right now and was able to hit up their Hobby Lobby today where all their decor is 50% off!
So fun and festive!!
I think it will be so fun to start this little tradition with Shelby and to help her know a little bit about where I grew up and her cousins live.
 The possibilities are endless!
Brad refuses to let me convert an entire tree, like this, in our house, but is totally down with Shelby having one for her room.
I think it's fun and would have LOVED something like this when I was a kid.
I already have ribbon, beads and other items.
What my Mom brings back this weekend, will just make it that more fun.
A little overboard?
Maybe.
But, that's how I roll!!!!

I love going overboard. In fact, I've made a lifetime out of it.

Shelby will love a Mardi Gras tree. Fun idea!

Trey's birthday was on Fat Tuesday this year so he got a King Cake :)

I love the idea of mardi gras but no one around me does much for it. I've never even had king cake. But the whole idea looks so fun. New Orlean for Mardi Gras is definitely on the bucket list.
