Wedding Party Favors - Opinions Needed

I know.. I know.. probably too early to be thinking about this just yet but I am and I'm a bit torn.

To give chatzy party favors at our wedding or make a donation to charity in honor of everyone coming and have notes to let them know?

I'm leaning towards giving the $$ we would spend to a good cause giving that most people just toss the little gifts generally given at weddings -- away.

BUT... a part of me thinks it's cute to have little bags of personalized M&M's what about a lottery ticket?
The bad part is - those little bags of M&M's? $1,000 -- that's just retarded! Again, I could find something more affordable but would it be better to just give money to say -- The USO -- whom I volunteer for? One of my fellow volunteers, who just got married, did that.

Let me know your opinion. What would you think as a guest??

Lottery tickets would be more affordable and fun -- but we're not doing a sit down dinner so how to you distribute and make sure one person doesn't grab 10 of them?

yeah we looked into the M&M's too and they were ungodly expensive. Ridiculous. A lottery ticket is a cute idea. Donations are good too.... I am a fan of edible favors myself...something I can take back to my hotel room and chow down on.

Oh, ask Coco.....she's the expert on favors. Seriously, she'll give you some fabulous ideas. I like both of your options, too!

Casey is sweet. I like the donation idea a lot but if you plan on having your reception be until the wee hours.

Just do two Krispy Kreme donuts, wrap them in pretty celaphane (sp?) with a big bow. Those will totally be eaten on the drive home and would be reasonable.

A friend of mine had Whataburgers and fries passed around at the end of her reception, it was awesome and made the CUTEST pics ever. But that probably would cost a fortune.

So, do donations or something that they can really snack on late night, as not to waste your money. And EVERYONE is doing the M&M thing right now.

The new picture of you two..is beyond fabulous!!!
M & M's are pricey and they do melt and the name smudges off!! I gave away crystal frames... I got at an outlet. I wrote a thank you for attending in the frames and then promise to mail a picture from the wedding.
Have a fabulous day!! xxx me

I think the donation is good...what if you just had an area when people leave the reception to grab a few mints, candy etc...maybe a mini candy bar?

We were lucky enough to have personalized mini chocolates through our hotel where the reception was at...it was included in our package.
if you google "wedding favors" or "candy wedding favors" you'll get tons of stuff and ideas.
you can get bulk candy bars..pretty cheap, i think.

my friends also did koozies and personalized match boxes

I think everyone likes the M&M's idea until they see the price. Since I did a destination wedding I gave out beach photo albums and personalized each one. It was easy since we only had 50 guests. I had also thought about ordering embriodered beach towels for everyone but that was pricey as well. I love the lottery ticket idea. We put lottery tickets in our stockings at Christmas and it is always a big hit.

Is there something that is representative of where you are from (or something about you) that would be inexpensive? For example my friend is from Michigan so she gave taffy apples from a farm near her house. I also like the doughnut idea!

Oh lordie, favors? There's so much little shit in planning a wedding.
Love the donut idea. I love donuts. Go the funky route. Food is always good. Look for connections with friends in the area--we're already discounted on open bar and food bc Tony's friends with a barowner. I like the lottery ticket idea, too!

Oh so torn... Krispy Kremes-> help local company
USO donation-> helps our overworked underpaid servicemen...

I eat Krispy Kremes all the time though... so I'd go with the USO

Ok, kinda going on an idea posted here...how about a candy bar?! Like have an area that has different jars filled with M&M's, gummy bears, Sweet Tarts, etc. and then have little bags with ties ready for people to make up their own mix on the way out!

This was done at a shower I attended...it was for a girl...there were gummy cherries, different shades of M&M's, and Cherry Sours. It was cute!

Plus, you wouldn't have to fill all the bags!!!
