Calligraphy

I know.. I've been posting a lot. I've just had a lot going through my head these days. So, question...calligraphy for wedding invitations? Brad and I addressed our own save the dates but I want the invites to be more formal.

BUT..I don't want to pay $150 for someone to do the calligraphy for me. Any other ideas? I read somewhere about labels and print out a nice font on the computer.

Ideas married ladies??

When we got married I worked with someone whose wife did calligraphy and addressed them for me for free (I think - it has been 11 years and my memory is slipping). I like the tradition of hand written invites but think the printed ones look nice as well. Hard choice - my southern roots would say handwrritten - even if you do it yourself.

you should look on craigslist or maybe on theknot.com message board for your area. lots of calligraphers out there looking for some extra cash.
but I think a printed script is nice too. when i get a wedding invite..which i did the other day..I rip it open to look at the invite...then toss the envelope and keep all the other stuff.
IMO...most look at the invite and not the addressing of the invite.

I did them myself, get a fabulous calligraphy pen and you are good to go. A little practice goes a long way..everyone thought I paid someone to do it!!

Dee- I tried the calligraphy pen but I have awful handwriting so it didn't work out. I ended up printing the addresses directly on the envelopes using a calligraphy font.

If you can find someone for cheap on Craigslist, I say go for it!
