In other news...

Buddy is back home from his week at the lake with my in-laws.

I think he's depressed.

Pooch likes it up there being outside and having people around all the time.

We're gone again this next weekend for a wedding in Richmond, VA but Brad's entire family is going so we'll leave him with our dog sitter.

Brad actually suggested that instead of paying him that we leave him at home by himself for the entire 3-day weekend and have our neighbors come let him out.

UMMM..NO!

That's just mean.

Budster is a people person.

I'm not going to leave him alone for that amount of time.

Also, I exercised so much this past week that I'm having my issue with my hips hurting again.

I've been trying to stretch but I think I'm going to ride the bike tonight instead of walking to give it a break.

Any of you have any problems with this?

I had it happen before and was told it was because I needed new tennis shoes.

Maybe that's the case again?

The weather is miserable hot here right now.

It was nicer being in the mountains where the high was 80-degrees during the day and 60-degrees at night.

The wake-up temp here in Charlotte this morning?

Try 80-degrees and humid.

The heat index is predicted to be 105 today.

ICK!

Even Brad said this morning that the mountains are looking better and better.

Tastefully Simple Giveaway!

If you've  been reading this blog for long you know how much I love to cook and eat!

I find it fun to make new and festive dishes and cocktails for parties, holidays and everyday.

That's why I was super excited when I was approached to do a giveaway for Tastefully Simple!

I got a big box in the mail last week with tons of treats!!

Dip, bread, and cocktail mixes!!

Just look at this loot!

I decided that this Juicy Watermelon Margarita mix was perfect for our Fourth of July weekend at the lake!

What is the Fourth of July without watermelon?

Seriously? 

What's even better?
When it's in a cocktail!

I got the idea from, Mary at Home is Where the Boat Is, and cut pieces of watermelon into stars to garnish our cocktails.

WahLah!

I'm here to tell you -- AMAZING.

I'm not exaggerating.

I'm not a fruity-tutti drink girl at all. 

Not a fan of real 'sweet,sweet' drinks.

But this?

Good stuff.

Add a bit of water and tequila into that bucket you saw above, stir and freeze overnight.

This is what you end up with.

Good stuff.

Even Brad liked it and he definitely doesn't like sweet drinks.

We all enjoyed at least one glass a day!

The other item that I decided to make for the holiday weekend was this guacamole dip mix.

I simply added a few ripe avocados and mixed it in with one of the packets and some water.

Again, delish!

I'm not one to harp on things being good when they're not really good, but this was some good guacamole.

I served it with a few chips and it was a hit.

Again, Brad gave it a big thumbs up and he TOTALLY isn't one to say something is good when it's not.

Even my own Mom thought it was great as well.
