The Lake Tahoe of the South!

Me, Shelby and Buddy just got back from our girl's trip this afternoon where we met one of my best friends, Kathleen, and her daughter Hadley who is a month and one day older than Shelby.
It was the first time for either of us to meet our girls and for them to meet each other.

I really had no idea what to expect from the area where we chose to meet halfway,(7hours for me, 4 for her), but it was all I hoped for and really more.
We chose the Deep Creek area on the border of Maryland and West VA.
In exploring the area the first day I told Kathleen that it reminded me of Lake Tahoe.
Well, I wasn't far off.
It happens to be that Southern Living Magazine did an entire spread on the area and claimed it to be the Lake Tahoe of the South.
Lake, ski resorts, gorgeous views, restaurants, you name it.. it's there.
I'm not doing my entire post on our trip yet because the best pictures are on my friend Kathleen's camera, but just wanted to mention that we're back and had one fabulous time.

Our cabin was perfect...
We had a family of deer that hung around it.
(more on that in a future post)
 The leaves were at peak!
There are so many more pictures and stories to tell but you'll have to wait.
The Autumn Glory Festival was going on in the area and it was fabulous.
The GRAND finale was the Annual Great Pumpkin Race on top of WHISP mountain.

Stay tuned for all the details!!!
It was so much fun and girls are new BFFS!
