28-Weeks Update and Name Reveal!

Hello 28-weeks!!
Things get more exciting by the day!
I'm feeling our baby girl move around all day long and it's truly amazing.
It's almost like having a little bowling ball in your tummy.
A bonding experience for sure.

Brad and I went in for the 28-week checkup yesterday where I weighed in 6-pounds heavier than last month.
I only gained 1-pound last month because I was in too much pain to eat plus I modified my diet due to the discomfort.
I've been feeling better -- *knock on wood* - so I credit that for my increased appetite.
The rib and back pain isn't NEARLY as bad as it has been the last 6-weeks and I'm hoping it stays that way this last 12-weeks.

All in all, the doctor would say I've gained 16-pounds so far but I think it's closer to 20.

I also took the test for gestitational diabetes at my appointment yesterday and passed with flying colors.
WHEW!
We're also told baby girl is breached right now, but that could change, and that she weighs in at 3-pounds.
She has some more growing to do!!
As do I!

Here's a snapshot from this morning.
My Mom got to town last night so she took the picture.
It will be interesting to see how big my tummy will get.
We were also lucky to get a 3-D ultrasound at yesterday's appointment.
She wasn't cooperating for the most part, but they were able to get one front facing shot of her.
Her nose looks a little smushed but it's really hard to tell.
All in all, VERY cool technology!!
It makes Brad and I even MORE excited to meet her in just a few months!!
And, after much thought I think it is time to share the name we have picked out for our sweet baby.
Remember - an S name that is Southern?
Well, that it is!

Shelby Leigh Stephens

Brad chose the name and of course I immediately thought of Steel Magnolias that was filmed in none other than Louisiana!
Shelby isn't real common, it's Southern and I love that she can say her Daddy picked it out.
Leigh is my middle name.

Saturday is my first shower here in Charlotte with family and friends and I am SOOOO excited!!
Today and tomorrow more friends and family start traveling in from all over for the big event.
I feel like the luckiest girl alive!!!

Stay tuned for all the deets next week!!

She looks so cute! I can't wait to see real pictures of her too.

And how does one get GD? It is genetic? Or is it diet? Or just random?

You look so great!! Very cute name :)It is so hard to believe that you only have 12 weeks left! The next 12 weeks will be so exciting. Every day you will think "I can't possible get any bigger. My belly will explode", and yet the next day comes and you are bigger than the day before!! I think my hugeness seemed worse since I'm so short, but it got so hard to get out of bed, bend over, etc. Have a wonderful weekend with your friends and family!!!

Wow - what an adorable southern belle girl name! I absolutely love it, especially bc Brad picked it out! How sweet. I already have a feeling she is going to be a "daddy's girl"!

Also, please do not get rid of ANY of your maternity clothes. I want to rent/buy/borrow your wardrobe when I'm preggo (not anytime soon, but still!). I looooove your maternity style!

Happy 28 Weeks! xo

Sweet little Shelby! That's so awesome! You are so lucky you don't have the GD. I had it and it was hard. Pricking my finger 4 times a day was really not fun.

You look GREAT! So glad you are enjoying your pregnancy. It was the most magical time of my life. What a true miracle to grow a HUMAN.

Loving all your baby posts!

Oh! I love the name! So perfectly southern. Also, I'm partial to Leigh as a middle name - that's what we chose for our girl as well.

I am totally jealous of your 3D ultrasound... Great to see what a 28 week babe looks like development wise anyway, since that's where we are too. : )

Glad you've got a reprieve from the back pain - crossing my fingers for you that you feel good until Shelby makes her debut!
