Happy Weekend in Highlands

What a happy weekend in the Western North Carolina town of the Highlands!
My hiking buddy, Kelli and I, enjoyed all that the area has to offer.
Restaurants, shops and more shops, The Old Edwards Inn, and of course the beautiful mountains that surround the town.
I took over  100 pictures but am not going to share every last one.

Because the Old Edwards Inn wasn't really in our budget for a short girl's weekend we opted for Mitchell's Lodge.
Just 2-blocks from Main Street Highlands and super cute and a great bargain!!
They have full cottages for rent but we stayed in the lodge.
Our room was country chic complete with gas fireplace, kitchenette and deck.
Oh, and a TV in case you were wondering!
A lot of the places we generally stay at don't have TV's, but this one did.
The deck was perfect for us to enjoy our happy hour after shopping and hiking.
The entire property is really cute.
They even have the picnic shelter for families to be able to use when vacationing.
I would totally suggest staying at Mitchell's Lodge in you're in the Highlands/Cashiers area.
We arrived on Friday and had always planned to just relax, shop, eat and drink.
The next day the weather cleared and we got up and out on a hike.
First stop was Whiteside Mountain.
A 2-mile hike but steep if you go to the left on your way up.
Totally felt it in my butt!
Great views at the top too!
If you're afraid of heights you'll want to stand away from the edge!
HA!
Great time and always awesome to be outside and in the mountains!
More to come...
Stay tuned..

I'm glad you had a great time.

The rooms do look cute. Much better than their own web photos. Glad you had a great time.
