Home Sweet Home with Shelby

Things have been awesome since we brought Miss Shelby home from the hospital.
For years, and especially the last 10-months, people have done nothing but talk about how hard and sucky the first few days home with a new baby are.
But..
I'm here to tell you that I don't feel that way.
Maybe it's because a) we have a good baby, b) she likes to sleep, c) that I've chosen not to breast feed, d) my husband is obsessed with her and likes to help e) that my Mom is here and helping out f) we waited so long for this moment that nothing could bother us.

Not sure what it is but home girl is on a 3 1/2 to 4 hour sleep/eat/change schedule.
Not to shabby!

We love her so much.
I could sit and stare at her all day.
I adore this picture.
Sums life up right now.
Enjoying the holiday season and our newborn.
A few pictures and details from the last few days here at home with our sweetie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shelby with her GiGi.
So lucky to have my Mom here helping.
Not sure what will happen when she leaves and I have to actually start cooking again.
Brad is getting spoiled.
Miss Shelby looking festive.
My Mom gave her the headband and Santa slippers.
They're both Mud Pie.
Brad thinks she looks like Liberace.
HAHA!
Shelby eating her dinner while watching Charlie Brown Christmas.
Can't wait to watch holiday specials with our sweet girl when she's older.
We didn't really have visitors at the hospital giving that Shelby was in the NICU for a day.
So family and friends have been stopping by to meet her now that we're home.
Her Aunt Robyn is in love with her too.
 As is her cousin Paige.
LuLu and her husband Keith stopped by last night.
 They brought a pretty wrapped package for Miss Shelby.
 Inside was the perfect gift!
A Hokie apron so Shelby can cook with her Daddy!!
Shelby had her first visit to the pediatrician.
(BTW - I know she's swaddled in most of her pictures but she loves it and it works!
So, we're not changing what doesn't need to be changed.)
 The Swaddle Me blankets(swaddles for dummies) are great but we have a couple of other kinds too.
I'll let you know which one we like better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our first family photo since coming home.
I'm still looking bloated but things are starting to go down.
After birth I was amazed at how much I swelled.
I didn't suffer from swelling too much during my pregnancy so I was freaked out by it.
The doctor and nurses said it's normal because all of the fluids that were going to her have nowhere to go.
I lost 15-pounds from delivery and another 5-pounds since being home.
I'll be interested to see how long it takes to get the other 8 pounds off and then the 5-pounds I should have lost BEFORE getting pregnant!
LOL!
I'm still in maternity clothes and still look pregnant in my opinion.
It gets better each day.
As far as exercise, I don't think that will happen until mid or late January.
My body is still healing from delivery.
 Back to Shelby's doctor visit.
She did so good and the pediatrician said she is healthy!
 She's 3-ounces above her birth weight!!
They don't want to see her for another month.
That's a way to eat Miss Shelby!
That's about the extent of the last few days.
Eating, sleeping, changing diapers.
 Enjoying snuggles and time as a family.
 Even Buddy is getting in on the action and has been really good.
I know I had mentioned in a previous post that we were going to send him to my in-laws house but we made a game time decision to keep him here and I'm so glad we did.
He's been great and there's been no stress or bad behavior.
He loves her and is a protective big brother.
 I don't know how he couldn't be.
Look how cute she is!!!
Of course I'm biased!
I don't want this blog to become a so-called 'mommy' blog but I do want and like to document our life and adventures and this is just one of them.
Sorry if some of you are bored.
I can relate because I've been in that place in the past too.
In the next few weeks I'll try and do some of fun posts but today this is what you get.
Hope you're having a fabulous week!!

Document it ALL! I love reading posts about little Shelby! She's such a pretty baby. I agree with you. Our experience bringing Lyla home was AWESOME. I did nurse, but Bobby got up with me and would give her a pumped bottle while I pumped more because she was too little to latch on and wasn't getting enough. She got down to 5 lbs 10 oz. In my opinion, you can't post enough pictures or talk enough about your precious angel! A true gift from God. Merry Christmas!

Your daughter is absolutely stunning. Congrats on a healthy baby and healthy mom! And that beagle of yours, I had no doubt he would be such a good boy and super protective of his new sister. Those beagles usually are...not to mention the best breed of dogs ever!

Congrats on everything, so happy for you and Brad.

Hey sweets! Y'all look great! Shelby is picture perfect! The Swaddle Me blankets were by far my fave. We had a bunch of others but Stella LOVED them. I am sad she can't wear them anymore now that she rolls in her sleep - ha! What a truly perfect Christmas for you all. And of COURSE I am obsessed with her bows and outfits. Heehee! Keep the updates coming!!

She's just beautiful! I agree, I loved our first days home from the hospital. They grow and change so quickly so soak it all up. Kinley and Emery have the same outfit that Shelby is wearing in the last picture and its one of my faves. So sweet!

She is precious. I read your birth story while in Charlotte, but it's so hard to comment on the phone when not logged in, and I"ve been swamped since I got back.

I"m so glad you all are adjusting well.

I"m so glad she is doing well after that birth scare. She sure is a cutie. And you look great. You basically have done so well with your weight. I did not lose weight that easily. Well done!
