Today's blog post inspired by my blogging friend over at Another Online Mom, she grew up in Louisiana too!
She mentioned a few items that she makes for Christmas morning breakfast including monkey bread and a casserole.
It's funny because last night I started thinking about Christmas breakfast and what I would cook. Brad and I will wake up together on Christmas in OUR home for the first time. I know we don't have human children(just the canine child) but I wondered to myself -- what tradition can I start?
When we were kids my mother always made these. Blueberry muffins.
While I might make these too-- I'm going to follow Another Online Mom's suggestion and do a breakfast casserole with mimosas!
Of course, we'll head over to my brother and sister-in-law's for lunch... but this will at least get our day started!
So my question is -- what do you generally cook for Christmas breakfast? What did you grow up with?

We're having my dad's side of the family over for Christmas brunch & we'll have:
Mimosas
Fruit Stuffed French Toast
Quiche (probably sausage, peppers & onion)
Hashbrown casserole
Biscuits & gravy
Hungry now just thinking about it!!
We had a "lumberjack" breakfast for Christmas morning. Eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, etc.
Now, I just do cinammon toast or something simple. We go to in laws and eat a ton so nothing big.
Adam's mom's family has a tradition of ham and creamed eggs. Delish!
We do the breakfast casserole, sweet rolls, fruit salad, coffee and Mimosas. Can't wait!
We always had grapefruit sliced in half. I have no idea why, because we never ate it any other time of the year.
And my grandma's Swedish tea ring. I know I'm Swedish and should know what this is, but I really have no clue. It's a circle shaped bread that, to me, tastes like old ham.

Mr. ESPN's family does Panetone (Italian sweet bread) and eggs with a cream cheese/dill sauce. last year I switched it up a bit and did a casserole - like you I like those southern roots! Not sure what I am going to do this year since it will just be Mr. ESPN and my kiddos!

I've done lots of things.....breakfast casserole seems to be the favorite around here!
we almost always had scrambled eggs with sausage or scrapple mixed in. Mom would make use orange juice or cranberry juice with ginger ale in it and fresh fruit and rolls or toast.
Just catching up on all my blog reading...sorry i'm behind. I cannot wait to see the pictures. i am sure they were beautiful. we did not have a wedding card box-never even thought of it. i like the bird cage idea though. Growing up we always made salty ham (country ham) and biscuits for christmas eve and had the leftovers for breakfast on christmas day. after mark and i got married, and i am not a good cook, we started a christmas eve tradtition of tamales for dinner. we dont make a big breakfast because we have the kids. but i want to start something that is easy....maybe cinnamon rolls. the countdown is truley on for you. email me your address if you dont mind, i would love to send you a christmas card. jannbaker29@hotmail.com
