If you're new here you don't know it but the Fourth of July is my favorite holiday.
I'm not sure what it is but I love it.
Click here for some of favorite July 4th's and here for the July 4th weekend Brad and I got engaged.
As I posted last week -- this year we'll be at the lake with my parents and Brad's parents. It should be fun and I'm already planning what foods to bring.
Here's one that is for sure on our menu.
Mary from Home is Where the Boat Is did this AWESOME post on Memorial Day.
Watermelon, Feta and Blueberries.
Umm.. Yes, PLEASE!
My boss - who also loves festive food for each holiday suggested these too - found here at SnackPicks. I'm not sure I'll get around to making them or not. With the kids not around I'm not sure the adults will appreciate them as much.
Not so much festive for the 4th, but always a big hit - I will be making muffaletta on a stick - found here at Miss Janice's blog. I made these last year and Brad requested again this year. Maybe I'll make them a Fourth of July tradition?
I also, have a fun watermelon cocktail and some other apps I'll be bringing and next week I'll be doing a giveaway of some of items I'll be using. Stay tuned for that!
As far as main entrees - my in-laws are smoking ribs one night and Brad and I are trying to figure out what we'll do the other.
He suggested jambalaya and I said gourmet burgers.
What are your 'go-to' Fourth of July food traditions? We need ideas so throw them out there!!
I really love 4th of July, too!! We're heading to VAB to visit my dad, and I always make homemade ice cream! Have fun!!!
Those are really good recipes!
We've made wine burgers before and they are special and delish. I can send you the recipe if you'd like!
LOVE the 4th too! I may have to make those treats for the kids... too cute!
Love the watermelon and feta idea. So cute!
We don't have any traditions, but you guys should give paella a try!
Oh. My. Word. Muffaletta on a stick is BRILLIANT!!!
I make a red, white and blue fruit truffle. It is always a hit for the 4th and I am asked to bring it to my summer work gathering every year. There are pics in this post form TWO years ago! haha-
I also make Caprese skewers (mozzarella balls, basil, cherry tomatoes and salami)I cant find a picture but you just put them on tooth picks (I use longer ones sometimes)and then sprinkle white bals vinegar and olive oil on top once assembled. I am also making gourmet burgers for our party this weekend.
OMG! I am totally making those muffaletta on a stick. my sister and her husband and two boys are coming this weekend so i am workin on our menu too! it'll be mostly pool food and grillin. I think we'll do burgers.
Anything on the grill! 4th of July just SCREAMS cookout to me. So, I like your gourmet burger idea. Smoked ribs sound so good too! My mouth is watering for all of this great food!
I'm totally stealing that watermelon Feta Blueberry it looks AMAZING!
My husband's family (all 17 of them, pass me the watermelon cocktail :-) are coming for some boating fun & burgers. It's forecasted to be hotter this weekend than today, which is HOT... my hubby's not too excited about standing over a hot grill!
Thanks for the shout out~ Have a Great 4th!
I a huge fan of the fourth as well. Something about all that leisurely, American summer-ness.
Oh, and, watermelon and feta is the greatest combo! I make watermelon and feta salads with a dollop of olive oil on top and pair them with dinners all summer long.
good times! we do the usual....burgers, dogs, any kind of grilling really!
That watermelon flag tray is so cute! Don't have any food traditions. Always in a different place!
All of that food looks incredible and I can't eat any of it! :)
Muffeleta on a stick is one of my stand by apps. Especially with all of the carb usually on the table it is nice to have a low carb option.
And I did a watermelon and feta salad this weekend too!! YUMMY!
