April's Girly Baby Shower

I was so honored to be part of April, from A Liz Adventures, baby shower this past Sunday.
Her friends did an amazing job and I even snagged a few ideas for when I host a baby shower in the future.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pink and green!
My 2 favorites!!!
 A booze free punch, then a rose' and mimosas for those of us who like our cocktails!
I'm a big believer in booze at baby showers.
Sound like a lush?
Maybe so, but for those who aren't expecting, it makes it more fun.
HA!
Adorable, festive cupcakes.
I'm starting to believe that cupcakes are a lot easier at most parties, vs. having to cut a cake and have someone spend time serving.
 Love.Love the cookies!!
 Calendar for everyone to guess when Baby Robson will be born.
 And, my favorite of the shower.
Late night diapers.
I have never seen this before but think it's a GREAT idea.
All the shower guests write a message on a diaper to the mom and dad.
Then, when changing a diaper, in the middle of the night, or otherwise, they can read them and it's a reminder of how much their friends and family love them and their new bundle of joy.
Plus, what new parent doesn't need diapers????
Totally stealing this idea.
 After reading April's blog for so many years, it was fun to finally get to meet her Mom and one of her sisters.
Just as you would think.
Fun.Fun.Fun
And, sweet as pie!
 April had so many friends there.
It was awesome to get to meet so many of them as well.
 A handful of bloggers were in attendance, including Classic Annie, Carolina Charm and Our Life in the Queen City.
 Me and Christina from Carolina Charm.
She happens to work in my same building, so I see her quite often.
Her and April are due within days of each other, both having girls.
 April received so many beautiful gifts.
I loved how her shower hostesses put this together.
Adorable!
 I gave her a few necessities including a HALO sleep sack swaddle and some hard/soft bibs, then a fun gift.
I happened onto this tartan kilt while in the mountains skiing and couldn't resist.
Giving her husband, Ian's Scottish heritage, I had too!
I mean, he even wore a kilt when they got married!
It's an Irish pattern, and not the print of Ian's clan, but cute, nonetheless!
 The real hit of the party was this gorgeous, handmade gown.
April's Mom is super talented and hand smocks.
She made this frock for Baby R to come home from the hospital in.
 She hand stitched an R on it!
I seriously, thought it was a Feltman dress when it was pulled out of the box!
Everyone was totally blown away including the Mom to be.
 The shower was so beautiful and filled with love.
I'm just so happy to have been included.
Can't wait to meet that sweet baby girl come May!!!
Shower for Shelby
This past Sunday one of my very close friends, who happens to be a work colleague, hosted the most lovely baby shower for me.
It was truly the icing on the cake now that I'm in the home stretch of this pregnancy.
 She stuck with the pink and green theme since those are the colors in Shelby's nursery.
She even went as far to have someone to bake a cake that matches the fabric in her nursery!
 How unbelievable is this?
I'm still in love.
It was delicious too.
Debbie, from Debs Sweet Cakes here in Charlotte made it.
I wore the same dress as I wore to my last shower because frankly, I couldn't find anything I liked better in the colors that I wanted.
And, I'm sorta over spending money on maternity clothes.
As I mentioned, my close friend was gracious enough to host this shower and it included 13 of some of the greatest women I work with at my current job.
Karen and I have known each other for nearly 8-years now and Brad and I just adore her and her husband Mike.
The shower was held mid-afternoon and she had all sorts of delicious munchies for everyone.
And, of course cocktails too.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
That green bottle at the end is a Dryck Bubbel Paron sparkling pear drink from Ikea of all places.
I am on a mission to get some for the holidays!
It is AWESOME, especially if you can't have the real thing -- meaning wine.
One of my other favorites that she served were pear slices topped with pimento cheese.
Who would have thought?
She got the suggestion from a friend who had this at a recent wine tasting.
A MUST try!
Absolutely everything was wonderful and I was lucky enough to have my Mom at this shower too.
I'm secretly happy that her business has slowed down a bit allowing her to be around during my pregnancy.
Other shower guests included Sheila, who I worked at Fox Charlotte with.
She now does the same thing I do for work, just at the competition down the street.
Great minds think alike.
Co-workers Emberly (in town from Boston), and Von.
Kim and Tiffany.
And, my manager and friend Cindy.
Cindy has been there for me through all the ups and downs!!
I appreciate her friendship a ton!
Shelby racked up in the gift department.
She got cute outfits, blankets, a stroller, activity mats.
Fun bath time toys and necessities.
A baby briefcase.
This was one of the more clever gifts, click here to buy one as your next shower gift.
Perfect for Type A's like me, it's an organizer for all the baby paperwork you get before and after the baby is born.
It allows you to keep everything from the birth certificate to the doctor's bills in one place.
I couldn't be happier!!
There were also books, diapers and a ton of other great items given.
I feel so LUCKY to have such great friends and work colleagues!!
Thanks again to my friend Karen for hosting and all of my friends for attending!
It was an intimate setting that can be described as nothing less than perfect!
Pink and Green Baby Shower for Shelby
What an AWESOME weekend!
I had my first baby shower here in Charlotte and it was everything a girl could want!
Hosted by my Mom, Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law, it was a pink and green dream.
They really outdid themselves and I'm excited to share the dozens of photos that were taken.
It was held at my SIL's house and guests were greeted with a front door decoration inspired by a photo on Pinterest.
Don't think I won't be using this again at the hospital AND after we get home.
My Mom made it. She is uber-talented!
The table was just as gorgeous, adorned with pink and green lanterns, poms and the kissing ball in the middle, was also made by my Mother.
The cake was made by my neighbor and fellow blogger LuLu, from Looks like LuLu.
Amazing!
I was told that my BIL even helped make this watermelon fruit basket.
LOL!
Everything was breathtaking!
The shower started at noon, so a light lunch of chicken salad sandwiches, salads, cheeses, and fruits was served.
Here's the 3 ladies that made it all happen.
I can't put into words just how grateful I am for all their hard work and love.
Guest favors were mason jars of pesto mayo that my MIL's friend made.
The mantle included a clothesline of new clothes for Baby Shelby and a few outfits of mine from when I was a baby.
The decorations went on and on....
I still can't believe how beautiful everything looked.
I'm glad pictures were made so I can remember it for years to come and share with Shelby.
Most of my close friends, and maybe some of you know, that I'm not a big shower person.
I opted out of having a bridal one back when I got married because I find most of them boring.
So, when a baby shower was mentioned I made it known that there needed to be cocktails for guests.
Well, indeed there was!
An assortment of bubbly with rosemary simple syrup.
Then, my Mom, once again, outdid herself and made homemade bianco.
Basically, a rosemary infused wine.
It was a huge hit!
Of course, there was flavored water and punch for all of us non-boozers.
Which probably include Angelina the ballerina.
*My MIL bought this for Shelby's nursery.*
So precious!
Such an exciting day!
There were about 26 people in attendance including some of my best friends who traveled in from several different states.
Kathleen, from Ohio, who is due 2-weeks before me with a girl as well.
No, we didn't plan on matching our dresses.
My best friend since 2nd grade, Rebekah from Baton Rouge and college friend of 20-years, Alicia from Atlanta.
Blog friend Patra from, I Do Declare, flew in from DC/Maryland.
And, of course Charlotte blog friends were there along with many, many other friends and family!
After lunch the gift opening began.
That's right, we skipped the hokey games once again.
THANK GOD!
I'm not big into opening gifts in front of people but I tried to make it painless and we didn't pass things around.
Sorry, if that's your cup of tea, it's just not mine
Baby Juicy C.
Tons and tons of LSU gear.
Baby Shelby will be sporting this next football season!
I literally cried I was so excited!
My cousin Katie really hit it out of the ballpark when she surprised me with a quilt she handmade made out of the fabrics picked out for the nursery.
Beyond special!
She reads the blog and saw the fabric.
I totally love it!
Speaking of quilts, I got teary-eyed again when my MIL gave a quilt made by Brad's grandmother.
So many special and sentimental things!!!
The mood lightened up though when opening I Do Declare's gift!
A stuffed beagle for Shelby's nursery!
OMG!
Of course, that was only a few gifts.
We received all sorts of items that we really need including clothes, bottles, a monitor, bath items and toys.
It was such an exciting weekend, I'm sad to say it's over.
I want to say another HUGE thank you to my SIL, MIL and my Mom!!!!
You guys are truly the best!
You did an amazing job!!
We're just counting down the weeks until we get to meet precious Shelby!!
