It's the 'Little Things'

I remember back to my single days and when I would get depressed. I would call my Mom and she would tell me to go and buy a plant because it would make me feel better.
I thought it sounded goofy but soon learned that plants do give off good vibes.  Just as fresh flowers do.

When walking past the Farmer's Market here in Uptown Charlotte yesterday I saw these and they called my name.
I just love sunflowers! How gorgeous are these?
It's little things like this that make me happy.

I arranged them in a vase on our kitchen table and Brad and I proceeded to cook our Tuesday night dinner. A little music, a little wine, candles lit and the grill in full force.

Dinner consisted of fresh grilled corn, portabello mushroom caps and pork tenderloin. We've been going crazy at the Farmer's Market so this is what a lot of our meals look like this summer.  Our healthy eating has been going great and I hope to be at my goal weight by July 4th!
Buddy's on a mission to lose a few pounds too. The doctor said he could lose three.  It doesn't sound like much but for a little guy like him it's harder than you think.  I've been taking him on my big power walks in the afternoon so he can burns some calories.  LOL!
That's all I have for today.  Still keeping up with the Casey Anthony Trial.  I just noticed that the State of Florida has rested their case and tomorrow the Defense will start theirs.  Should be interesting to say the least!
Happy Humpday!

I had a single "moment" yesterday. Thank goodness it was just a moment, then I was back to my normal self. Buying plants actually depress me because they always die! Still praying for ya...

I love the sunflowers. I try to keep some flowers in my house when I'm going to be around for a bit. The ones you found are gorgeous!!

Yum - the best thing about summer is grilling out!

That looks so yummy, and good for you for getting yourself flowers. It's the best way.

Agreed on plants making you happier :) we have a lot in our house- I have to be reminded to water them (Andrew leaves notes) but I love having them. We actually planted sun flowers in our garden this year! I hope they get big and beautiful. My mom gets HUGE sunflowers every year in her garden. You will reach goal weight- I am rooting for you!!

We have been grilling like crazy too. That supper of yours looks DELISH! We have a big farmer's market here, but also a small little one around the corner from my house that we just discovered. So excited to start frequenting it!

AND...congrats on the goal weight by 7/4!!! I'm so jealous. I am working hard, and hopefully will be where I want to be by the end of July. Tell Buddy that Louis is also trying to lose 1lb. It sounds so terribly easy, but he hasn't had much luck :( Too many treats smuggled to him my TEN I suspect.

I love sunflowers but if I look at them they die. I don't think they like me as much as I like them.

Dee, I agree so much about the flowers. I had some quiet time after work yesterday just to work in the yard. I did a lot of planting, including a hydrangea busy so we can start bringing in clippings!

How do you do your portabella caps? Recipe please! We like to brush ours with EVOO/balsamic and grill one side, then flip and top with sundried tomatoes, kalamatas, and feta cheese.

That is so funny, because that is one of the very reasons I started buying myself fresh flowers all the time! And your dinner just made me salivate, looked so good on that grill!

Those flowers are gorgeous!! BTW - I have been meaning to text you all week. On of the assistant defense attorneys in the Anthony trial owns the condo next to the one we stayed in - small world! That is all that is on the tv all of the time here in FL!!
