It's late on Thursday but I'm still getting this Thoughts on Thursday out!
I tried a new side dish this week that I saw on For the Love of Cooking blog.
Lemon orzo pasta with tomatoes and asparagus.
Healthy and yummy too.
You'll see down below that we have fresh herbs growing on our deck including a TON of cilantro.
Brad requested that I make something for dinner using some of it, so I googled and found a recipe for cilantro lime chicken with avocado salsa.
I served it with a Spanish rice and a side of green beans.
Also very tasty and California-like!
I'll be making it again.
In other randomness tonight - pictures of our awesome 'backyard'.
Yes, we can't wait to have a real home one day, when we're able to sell both of the homes we own now, but until then our backyard is a simple deck.
I try and make the most of it.
(even though I would like a full table with umbrella but Brad refuses until we get a real backyard)
After several years of those crazy pots you have to drill into the side of your deck or 'attach' to your deck we started shopping for a new alternative.
We admired our neighbor's 'rail' pots last year and went on a search for some of our own.
Geez Louise it wasn't an easy feat!
No one is Charlotte carries these!
We had to order them from Amazon.
They're nice because you don't have to worry about them falling or coming loose.
Brad is always in charge of the herbs.
He loves it.
We have cilantro, basil and rosemary.
A lot of that basil will get used tomorrow night as we make homemade pizzas as we always do on Friday nights.
So, nothing exciting but a little glimpse into our 'home'.
Our weekend agenda consists of the LSU Alumni Crawfish Boil.
One of our absolute favorite events all year long!
Can't wait.
Tootles!
Pretty meal!
ReplyDeleteThose pots are terrific. I have never seen those before!
Sweet Buddy! Love that face! Use the cilantro in Homeade salsa and also in shredded chicken tacos. Super good! We grow it and basil too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteLove those pots. Those recipes look delicious.
I love those pots. Perfect for a deck. Your flowers look great. For some reason, mine are just not blooming this year. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love your pots. We live in a condo and you might have just inspired me to plant some in our balcony.
ReplyDeleteThe deck looks great and I love those pots! Last year I planted flowers on our balconies since they came with built in planters. It was my little hobby to care for the flowers and I had so much fun that I just re-planted again this year. Now, if I could just get some herbs to grow it would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove the patio. I see it everyday!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am off. We are heading to lake with my fam.
I love your deck. Those planters are not easy to find.....and then you have to find the right fit.......well done!
