I don’t claim to be a fashionista.
That’s not what this blog is about.
While I like clothes, I don’t obsess over designers and what pattern they are coming out with next.
I’m not against others who do.
Heck, I even read a lot of your blogs!

Saying that – I have a question.
Are the buck shoes from the 1980’s and 1990’s making a comeback?
Or, are they back and I’m just out of the loop?
I’m asking because I’ve seen a few blogs mention them recently and I thought to myself. WOW!
Blast from the PAST!
Here are I am sporting mine back in 1989.
They were THE hot thing back in the day.
I found this photo and laughed.
I had just gotten my braces off the day this was taken.

As for the bow?

Brad and I were driving down the interstate the other day and we looked over and saw some guy wearing a pair while riding a motorcycle.
(Not sure that's typical motorcycle fashion, but any way)
Brad laughed and said, ‘Oh, wow. Bucks. I remember rocking those back in the day. ‘
I didn’t say it to him, but I thought, ‘I think people are rocking those today too. I think they’re back in style.’
Then I found this listing for them on JosABank’s website.
I haven't seen them before, but I could see them in JCrew with some rolled up boyfriend jeans ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope they are! I love a pretty look.
ReplyDeleteTopsiders are getting big again, too. LOVE!
I remember those ... not sure if they are back or not ...
ReplyDeleteI had white bucks, too! And brown ones... Men (and baby boys) still wear white bucks with searsucker but as mainsteam fashion, I don't see them much. BUT - DC is Hollywood for ugly people, so don't take fashion advice for me! Did you wear penny loafers? Those shoes are making a comeback this Fall, I think!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, LOVE bucs! They were the shoes we had to wear for our high school uniform and I had a tan pair, a white pair, and my favorite...saddle shoe bucs. I have been on the look out for the perfect pair of saddle shoe bucs but can only find them for guys and not for girls.
ReplyDeleteI had the brown ones and the black and white saddle ones. I remember going to the Bass outlet to get them at the beginning of each school year. The brown ones are so ugly! I hated them. But they were part of the school uniform. I hope they don't make a come back.
ReplyDeleteI don't see myself wearing them, but I do see them for men/boys. I did wear saddle shoes for cheerleading.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say that I had them, too. It's hard for me to remember. I wore some ugly shoes in the early 90s, but I guess they weren't at the time.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I wore them nearly every day of 6th grade. I loved those! Not sure if I'd wear them now though.
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen them making a comeback. I don't think I'll be in on this trend. My husband used to wear them even just a few years back, but now he full fancy suit and shoes-no more bucks-ha. I was a bow head too and didn't stop wearing them until I was 21, and if I'm having a girl I plan to own 100+ before she is born-WARNING!
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see them being back. I saw a girl wearing black Keds on an escalator this week, and they were super cute -- and slightly different from the ones we had in the 80s. Those would also be ripe for a comeback!
