Labor Day on Lake Erie - Day one

I’m back from holiday! Labor Day Weekend holiday and what a FABULOUS one it was!

Seriously – one of THE best weekends of the summer by far.

As you know we traveled to the Great Lakes region to spend time with our friends Dean and Kathleen. They live in the Cleveland area full-time but have a vacation home on Kelley’s Island on Lake Erie.

Lake Erie isn’t like the lakes around here………..nope……….it’s more like the ocean kids! This was my 3rd time to the lake but Brad’s first. It was SOOO much fun that I’m going to take the next 3-days to take you day by day.

We got in Thursday night and enjoyed a few adult beverages and then woke up to a hour long bike ride on the island then we were off!

Here is a picture of their house on Kelley's Island - that BTW is only accessible by boat or plane.

Isn't this cute? Dean got this for Kathleen for their first year anniversary in July.

They either ride bikes or drive a golf cart around the island. Here we are on our way to their boat.

Kathleen and I on the boat. We're enroute to Put-In-Bay. Another island on the lake.

Arriving on Put-In-Bay. This is one of the big 'party' islands.

Downtown Put-In-Bay - it's very cute!

Arriving at The Crew's Nest. The club on the island Kathleen and Dean are members of.

We spent the day at The Crew's Nest pool. Dean spent most of his time on his phone.

Then to the World's Longest Bar - also on Put-In-Bay

Here are the four of us getting our cocktails at the World's Longest Bar.

Then back on Kelley's. After cooking and eating at their house we headed out for the night on Kelley's Island.

Me and Kath - love this picture. I think I'll put it in a frame!

Another good one. We watched the sunset from here.

Overall, a great, great, great weekend! We hope to make it back up next year to do it all over again! The good news is - Kathleen will be here in just about 6-weeks to visit!! YAY!
Well, Happy Tuesday! More tomorrow!
