Looking Back - One Year Ago

It was exactly this week last year that I had just gotten the word from my Dad that his work was sending him to Germany for 10-days and he wanted me and my Mom to tag along and make a vacation out of it.

WooooHooo I thought! I haven’t been overseas since I was a kid but then I suddenly realized that my Dad said we were leaving in 3 weeks and I didn’t have a passport. YIKES!

From there it was mayhem – luckily I had my birth certificate already it was just a matter of paying extra to get the passport rushed and stand in line for hours to get it done. Well, it got done in time and we had a blast!

It was me, my Mom and Dad and the cool part about it is -- we lived in Germany for the first 3 and ½ years of my life and I nor my parents had been back since.

So we set out on our adventure and in the 10-days we visited Bavaria and Middle Rhine Valley. Dad worked most of the time so a majority of the trip was just me and my Mom.

Here are few pictures to reflect back on an awesome trip! Gosh, if only I could go back to Europe 3 weeks from now – if I did I would visit Tuscany and the Almafi Coast just like Diane Lane did in Under the Tuscan Sun.

In Bavaria at one of Ludwig's castles. It's actually what Disney based Cinderella's castle on.

Very scenic in Bavaria.

A trip to the Pflaz wine country. This is what they call 'Wein Street'

We met a family of winemakers...

They took us on a private tour.

There's tons of asparagus in Germany!

Beautiful flowers at one of the castle's gardens.

On to Ruddesheim where we took a chair lift into the city.

So fun! Mom had never been on a chairlift.

Then we took a cruise on the Rhine River to see castle after castle...

Me and Mom at Heidleberg Castle

Eating pastries in Rothenberg!

Buying art in Rothenberg. I have 2 of these hanging in my living room. My parents have long been fans of this artist. He passed away but this is his daughter.

Rothenberg - my favorite picture from the trip.
Me and Mom in Rothenberg -- our favorite stop in what was a wonderful trip that will be remembered forever!
