Random Pictures and Thoughts

It's been a while since I've done a true 'update' on what's been going on around here.
So, here it goes.
* First off, I feel as life is starting to get back to a pace to where it was before we had Shelby. We're back out going to events and even doing things with friends.
Not that we totally stopped but last weekend was the first weekend we actually stayed on the go the entire time.
Before we would do a few hours out then head home.
Now I'm feeling more comfortable feeding on the go and changing diapers on the go.

* My eating habits have been slacking.
That is despite the fact that I have now vowed to start working out at 5:30am every Tuesday and Thursday.
This is my 2nd week at it and so far so good.
It's SOO hard to find time to workout at night that I knew I had to do something.
I still plan on power walking with Shelby around the neighborhood 2-days a week after work, but now if the weather stinks I don't have to be upset because I'll still have 2 days in.

* Shelby is a rock star at school.
We got a 'happy gram' from her school today that she's rolling all over the classroom. Literally from one side to the other!
We see her rolling here at home but we don't have nearly the room they do at school.

* Brad and I are both into making baby food.
Thank goodness my cousin Cindy gave us her baby food maker.
Shelby has enjoyed, carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, avocado and tonight I made summer squash puree!
After a few days of that we're moving on to fruits.
We're having the school feed her because by the time she gets home she's way too tired.
* Speaking of cooking.
I feel as I'm 'starting' to get back into the swing of things.
I haven't had the desire or energy to really cook for weeks but the last week or so I feel as if I'm getting back into the swing of things.
I even prepared these last night for us to enjoy for dinner tonight.
Baby steps back into 'real' cooking.
It's all about time management!!
* I forgot to include the gorgeous flowers I received for Mother's Day.
My MIL got me this fun pig pot with petunias in it.
LOVE.LOVE.LOVE!
And, my Mom bought me this gorgeous vase of flowers.
We're still enjoying them.
* In other random news.
Shelbs is still liking her exersaucer but I feel like she needs more toys.
I'm also feeling as if it's time to put up the swing.
We just found out Brad's cousin and his wife are expecting so we're saving all our stuff to give to them.
A few random pictures from when my parents were here.
Shelbs enjoying some GiGi time.
And, some Poppi time!
With my parents in town we took advantage of the babysitting and headed out to a friend's graduation party.
You might recall my friend Karen who threw me a baby shower back in October.
So proud of her!
She graduated from Belmont Abbey over the weekend after 4-years in night school to finish her 4year degree!
All while working full time at the bank!
I could not have done it!
They had a few of their neighbors over and us to celebrate.
Her family is as proud of her as we all are!
And, the last random photo/tidbit for the night.
A picture a friend of mine sent of me and Shelby at the crawfish boil Saturday.
Love it!
I still can't believe I have a blue-eyed baby!?
Where in the world did that come from?
I can't believe this is my 3rd post this week.
I'm on a roll!!!

Lately..

Life has been good lately.
We've really settled into a decent routine and I expect it to only get better as the weather continues to warm up because that means we're going to spend more and more time outside.
Our HAPPY place!
So, here's a little update on what's been going on around here.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Brad put Shelby's exersaucer together this weekend.
He was overwhelmed at all the little pieces it took to put it together.
Baby girl LOVES it even though we still have to stuff a blanket in there with her to prop her up.
It's so fun to see her touch and play with everything on it and she gets so excited!
I sometimes, look around at her toys and wonder, how do these creators come up with these ideas?
It's all brilliant. Not sure what they did back in the old days before all of these contraptions.
As I mentioned, we've been spending a lot of time outside on the days that it has been nice.
Miss Shelby loves it.
This hat, was the very first thing I bought for her after I found out I was having a girl.
Bought it at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego.
Thanks to CoCo for Shelby's cupcake onesie.
With it getting warmer, we're excited for the Farmer's Market to be back in full force.
We took our first trip there for the season this weekend but were bummed to see that the local farmer's aren't out yet.
Maybe next week?
I'm still crazy about dressing Miss Shelby and I'm still lucky to find awesome clothes for her on some of your blogs!
This is one score from the closet of Miss Stella, from Pink Preppy Lilly Lover.
Love me some pink and green!!
For myself too!
Brad was nice enough to be on baby duty as I went out Saturday night for my friend Kelli's birthday.
So fun to get dressed up and go out!
(BTW - can you tell I got tons of layers cut into my hair? I was tempted to cut it all off but got talked out of it. I like the new style.)
Happy Birthday to Kelli!!
I didn't make it a late night because I knew we were going to early church this morning.
We were up and at church for 8:30am.
It was Shelby's first time in the nursery.
Girlfriend spit up right when we walked in.
Fab! HA!
She did great though, we even managed to have breakfast out at a restaurant after church and still made it home for her 10:30am feeding.
That's what I call a productive morning!!
Doesn't she look just like Brad in this picture?
I think so..
And, that's what's been going on around here aside from being in search for someone to do occasional sitting for us when we want to go out now and then.
We got a name of a former teacher from Shelby's nursery school, so we're going to give her a call!
Happy Sunday friends!!
My First Week Solo and Lately
I guess you could call this my random post for the week.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I see so many bloggers post these beautiful pictures of their daughter's closet, but I'm keeping it real today.
I'm not a closet person.
As much as I try I can't seem to keep it together and organized.
All the hangers don't match and it's not color coordinated.
The best I can do is to keep them organized by age.
So, here you have it.
Judge me if you will.
Things have been going pretty good.
Brad went back to work last week and my Mom came back to help.
I got back into the groove of cooking again after a 3-month hiatus.
It felt good but weird at the same time.
We are really in the 'lose weight mode' around here now so it's healthy low-carb meals now even though we enjoy our wine as well.
Buddy is adjusting well overall.
He's had his moments including one where we went nutzo wanting Shelby.
He even jumped on my SIL's lap the other day while she was holding the baby.
No BUENO!
As I said, my Mom was here for week as Brad transitioned back into work life.
It was nice.
It's the first time I really took Shelby out and about.
We spent our days shopping and lunching.
It helped me get over the hump of staying at home and keeping her inside.
  My Mom even stayed with Shelby as we had our first night out alone.
The day after my Mom left our SIL stopped by with our niece Paige.
They brought a boatload of books for Shelby and Paige got to feed her cousin Shelby and even help change her diaper.
She was so excited!
That evening our neighbors had us over for dinner and Miss Lulu got a little Shelby time!
Other things happening around here??
Earlier this week sweet blog friend Sara sent Shelby this absolutely gorgeous dress!!
I was completely taken back!!
Thanks again Sara!! I can't wait to see Shelby in this!
I'm hard core on my walking this week.
My goal is to walk 3-miles everyday until I go back to work.
Thank goodness Shelby likes the BOB so this is actually realistic.
Isn't she cute??
Brad aka Daddy is adjusting to life back at work away from Miss Shelby.
He's doing a great job.
Other pictures of the week include us going to meet a friend for lunch.
And, sitting in the doctor's office for my 6-week checkup.
We had to wait over an hour!
THANK GOD she was good.
I wish I had more exciting posts these days but I don't.
You all have a fab weekend!!

Thoughts on Thursday

Random Ramblings for today's 'Thoughts on Thursday'.
I'm just over 29-weeks now and it seems this 3rd trimester is treating me a heck of a lot better than the 2nd.
And, everyone told me the 2nd was the honeymoon phase?
NOT!
I've probably jinxed myself now and my back and rib pain will come back.
Let's hope not.

This past weekend's shower gave Brad and I the big green light to start getting Shelby's nursery ready.
With all of my friends traveling in we needed the extra bedroom until now.
So, guess what?
We have a LOT TO DO!
We live in a 3-story townhouse so there will be a lot of stair climbing going on to get all of this junk up to the 3rd floor and everything currently in the room down to the 1st.

I'm excited about getting the nursery pulled together.
I've shared with ya'll before the fabrics we've chosen.
My Mom also surprised me with this shadow box that will hang in Shelby's room.
It was my costume and shoes from when I was 3-years old.
So fun!!
I'm still trying to figure out what else I'll put with it.
I have some ideas.
Wouldn't this little smocked bikini be perfect to display in the room?
It really does match the fabrics perfectly.
My friend Beth sent it this past week along with a ton of other fun stuff for Miss S.
Including these!
She has a 19-month old daughter so we're getting a lot of her fun hand me downs.
What else is new?
Not a whole lot, except college football is kicking into high-gear.
LSU has their first SEC game this weekend taking on Auburn.
GEAUX Tigers!!

Thoughts on Thursday

Time for a Thoughts on Thursday even though it really is my Friday!!!
I say that because I'm heading to Arkansas tonight to help host a wedding shower for my cousin.

I'm super excited!!

I thought about it last night, I haven't been there in almost 2-years!!
Tune in next week for LOTS of pictures from that shower and my first baby shower hosted by my Aunts and Cousins!!

Now to my 'thoughts' and/or happenings.

* A bunch of us bloggers got together earlier this week. It was a smaller group than last time which is sometimes nice because then you can really talk. All of the ladies I had met before so it was really like just getting together with IRL girlfriends, which they have all become.
L to R
Sara, A. Liz, Rachel(the other prego of the group), me, Classic Annie, and LuLu.
A lot of my IRL friends still think it is weird that I actually meet bloggers.
It's like a whole other club or sorority I belong to.*
* My Mom came in last night to travel to Arkansas with me today.
We also got a chance to buy all the fabric for Baby S's nursery.
And, she went ahead and gave Brad and I our shower gift for this weekend.
(she didn't want to travel with it because of the risk of it getting broken)
It's a Beatrix Potter tea set for our little girl!!!
The theme of this weekend's shower in Arkansas is Peter Rabbit so I just LOVE.LOVE.LOVE this!!
Brad responded with a 'I guess, I'll be attending a tea party in the future?'.
YOU BET YOU WILL!!*
*Speaking of 'beverages', Brad has converted our wine fridge into a beer cooler since I'm on a wine drinking hiatus.
It didn't totally shock me when I saw it, but I can't wait until it's stocked again and I can drink!*
* 5 years after being given this license plate by my nephew Preston, it's finally on my car.
My JEEP didn't have a place for a plate on the front, so this makes me really happy. It comes at the perfect time too since college football kicks off soon. *
* I haven't mentioned it on here yet but Baby S is kicking and moving around A LOT! It's pretty amazing to feel!
It's almost surreal!
Brad hasn't been able to feel it yet but I'm hoping that happens in the next week or so.
Next week we're at the 6-month mark!!
Also, Baby S has a name and it starts with an S.
I've shared it with some of you but I'm not sure about posting it here on the blog.
Brad came up with it and what I can tell you is that it is not a family name but very Southern.
I truly adore it, especially since I was really wanting an S name but couldn't come up with one.*
That's all I really have for today.
I'll be back next week with tons of pictures from my trip to Arkansas.
