This time next week we'll be on our BabyMoon!!!
You might be asking what a 'babymoon' is?
Well, it's the last big trip for the parents to be, to take by themselves BEFORE they become parents.
I'll be 14 1/2 weeks by the time we leave for our trip and some might think that's a little early but I'll assure you it was all planned this way for a reason.
In fact, there were several things that we took in consideration while planning this trip.
#1. We wanted to go before it got too hot and I get too big to be comfortable.
#2. We wanted a tropical/beachy/relaxing type of trip versus our typical 'active' vacations we're known for.
#3. I, we wanted to make sure that the main recreation wasn't boozing and that there were a lot of things to do.
Granted, I LOVE to booze but right now that ain't happening and the last thing I wanted to happen was for me to sit around and watch Brad get smashed every night along with 90% of the others at a resort we might be staying at.
So, when we made our final decision we found that taking a cruise on this ship was where we would get the best bang for our buck.
We'll be able to enjoy shows, play mini-golf, exercise, hang at the pool, eat until we can't eat until we can't eat anymore.
We'll also be stopping at several ports while on our 6-day cruise.
Our first stop:
Key West
This will be my 2nd visit but Brad's first.
We didn't book an excursion for this stop but instead plan on taking in Duval Street, eating key lime pie, conch fritters and I'm sure Brad will have a beer or 2 or 3 at Sloppy Joe's.
After a day at sea our next stop will be:
Grand Cayman
Neither one of us have been here and we're excited about our snorkeling excursion that we booked.
First time to snorkel for both of us!
Can you believe that??
Our next and last stop will be:
Ochos Rios, Jamaica
This too, will be our first time here and we've booked the Dunn's River Falls excursion which I hear is GREAT!
You know I love to hike, but I'm not 100% sure I'll be climbing to the very top of these falls while pregnant because of the risk of falling.
Overall, we are both very excited!!
This is Brad's first cruise and my first since 1995!
Did you take a 'babymoon'?
If so, where did you go?
Sounds amazeballs!! We visited Sloppy Joe's on our cruise - I should give you our cups that they refill for free forever and ever so they say! Haha
ReplyDeleteWe're dreaming BIG and hope to one day go to BORA BORA whenever we have a Babymoon! :)
Have so much fun!!
This is fantastic - Cruises are the best mode of travel!! You guys will have a blast and you'll still be small enough to feel good in a bathing suit and feel sexy while out to dinner. Both are key to a successful vaca in my book!!!! Have so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a ton of fun. Snorkeling is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing cruise. I love Key West!
ReplyDeleteA babymoon is a great idea! Have a blast!
ReplyDeleteNICE! Enjoy it, Mama!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! We went to Charleston for ours. We were going to do Hawaii, but flying made me so sick, it was a no go. The cruise is perfect You have to get chocolate covered frozen key lime pie-amazing! Also my fav flip flops-kinos in key west. I've been snorkeling in grand cayman a few times, but always get sea sick with rocking on the tender and excursion boat. Climbing the falls is so fun, there is an easy and 'hard' side, just do the easy, just the two of you so you can take your time- its so much fun! Pack water shoes to protect your feet.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds absolutely incredible!! I'm jealous...please take me. Have fun and relax every second. Can't wait to hear all about it, and of course see pics. :) Yay!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! This will be so nice. I've wanted to go to the Grand Caymans for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you guys.

Definitely take a babymoon. It's a lil difficult to take big trips with lil one. Enjoy every moment! Your destinations sounds fabulous and I can not wait to see pictures from your trip.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it will be a great trip! So excited for you! Snorkeling sounds like so much fun!

I went on that SAME CRUISE in Sept 2010. I loved it! It was one of my very favorite vacations. We swam with the dolphins in Grand Cayman, but my pregnant friend who was with us wasn't allowed to. So you might have to miss that activity!
ReplyDeleteThat will be so much fun!!! I would love to go on a cruise, but my hubby is scared he'd get seasick, ha :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to get away - you have so much to be excited about :)
XOXO
I am so jealous!!!!!! I love Key West, but haven't been to the other places. Y'all will have so much fun!! I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about it.
ReplyDeleteHow much fun!
ReplyDeleteSome of the best snorkeling I've ever done was at Grand Cayman. We even went to an old shipwreck site and that was amazing to see underwater.
We love Key West - I made it my mission to try key lime pie at almost every establishment there! Have tons of fun my friend!!
ReplyDeleteBEST TRIP EVER. One of my coworkers went on this same cruise recently and said it was the best one she's ever went on (and she's been on 7)!
ReplyDeleteI've never done a cruise but this one sounds great! I love that you aren't necessarily at a new port each day...HAVE FUN!
ReplyDeleteBTW- I definitely googled babymoon when I ready your post yesterday
Congrats on your pregnancy dear! Edgar and I took a short trip on our Anniversary this year to Lake Tahoe. Never any Babymoons cause we never had kiddos but this year was one of the best get aways ever . . .
ReplyDeleteSO fun! I love snorkeling and have heard it is fantastic in Grand Cayman!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to hear about your trip. I have actually never been on a cruise but I am yearning to go sometime!
I've been to all three of those places! The snorkeling with stingrays is so cool! We climbed Dunn River Falls too and it was lots of fun! Wear grippy shoes :) Key West is one of my all time favorite places. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I loved Key West when we were there in Feb. Great vaca! I can't believe you've never been snorkeling either. It is super fun. Yea for baby moon!
ReplyDeleteSounds amazing and I'm so JEALOUS! Take LOTS of pictures!
ReplyDeleteOur calendars were too busy to take a babymoon during my first trimester so we are going NEXT WEEK-great minds plan alike?-to Lake Tahoe for 4 days.
I have only been to Key West but not in a LONG LONG TIME. My grandparents own a place there so we used to go as kids. I would LOVE to go back and take Andrew. Our friends go every year.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time! I dont think you will get too big :)
First, Congrats to the both of you! I've been to all of your stops and loved them all:) Also, when I was in Ochos Rios, one of my girlfriends on the trip was further along than you will be. She chose the falls as her excursion. She didn't climb but enjoyed it, so you should have a great time!
ReplyDeleteCongrats again:)
We didnt do a baby moon but went to Ocho Rios on our honeymoon and did Dunns River Falls! It was really cool and if I remember correctly, was not grueling at all. Use your best judgement but I think you will be fine if you want to go for it.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a babymoon. I had never heard of that before!
