If you're new here you may or may not know that I grew up in South Louisiana and am an LSU graduate.
I bleed purple and gold!
Every city that I have ever lived in since leaving Louisiana, I have joined their LSU Alumni group.
No different here.
Charlotte's group has some great people and great events, including the annual crawfish boil.
It's held every May and it is easily become one of Brad's favorite events since meeting me.
We have a group from Atlanta that comes in and caters it for us.
NO worries, they're originally from Louisiana and they DO get the mud bugs from the bayou.
If you're not familiar with a crawfish boil, they boil them in a big pot with tons of yummy seasonings and corn and potatoes.
But, there's other food provided such as jambalaya.
The local Abita Beer rep always hooks us up with tons of brew for everyone to wash their mud bugs with.
Good times for all!!
Love that Brad is comfortable rockin LSU gear.
He is VA Tech Hokie at heart.
Our friends Katie and Josh joined us again this year.
Josh is from Arkansas and loves a good crawfish boil!
Needless to say we ate a few and then some.
Always fun to get together with other people you have something in common with.
While I love Louisiana and miss parts of it, I would never move back, so it's nice to be able to get together with other Cajuns.
Thanks to our President, Dan, who does such a great job organizing all of the Alumni events including the crawfish boil.
We're ready for football season now!
It will be here before you know it!
Fun times!!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to a crawfish boil...but the whole sucking them out of the body thing...I don't know if I could handle that ;)
ReplyDeleteColumbia, SC has a huge crawfish festival every year but I've never made it. Eating crawfish is actually on my bucketlist, the sucking on the head makes it darning enough for my bucklist. ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for SEC football season to start!
I love crawfish! What a fun event for y'all!
ReplyDeleteI've been to a mini-crawfish boil up here in TN for UT vs. LSU game. I would LOVE to go to one down in cajun country though!
